This is often a difficult thing to do for some people, especially if they have been given distorted messages that have stemmed from childhood, pre-teen years and even adulthood. These are messages that were damaging to our self-esteem from people we trusted and who were at times our peers, our parents and others in authority.
Loving ourselves truly as we are is the first step towards finding happiness and discovering our true potential, and deeper meaning in our relationships.
The author Trish Scoular is a Registered Professional Counsellor who works with people of all ages. Her clients have primarily come from a background of depression, difficult relationships, low self-esteem and confidence, anxiety and co-dependency. She believes in person-centered theories, because people have the answers to life’s problems when they look within.
